about

Dedicated to all the refugees and immigrants struggling to survive.

We are providing a "pay what you want" download with 100% of the funds going directly to the Syrian Refugee relief effort.

As of now, after doing research we've decided on donating funds to Global Giving's Syrian Refugee Relief Fund. We steered away from non-profits that receive government grants as we have heard speculation that these foundations receive an "Increased oversight and monitoring of how funds are spent and whether results achieved matched those promises." and we don't trust the current US administration to act in the millions of refugee's best interest.

You can find more information here: www.globalgiving.org/projects/syrian-refugee-relief-fund/

Global Giving's rating and review: www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=11648

We welcome any and all information regarding relief efforts and if there is a "best" platform in which to donate funds.

Updates to follow.

lyrics

VERSE 1:

Sometimes I picture walking in Times Square
before anything was ever built there.
Before our ancestors came from different continents,
settled on the shore and called themselves "colonists".
And as I walk over the lines in the pavement,
I like to think of all the lives that made this
concrete arrangement on land that was sacred
and straight-up taken from the American Native.
You see this whole country was built by immigrants -
Just wanted a better life for their family and kids.
Sound familiar? But now we'd rather limit it
to only the hypocrites that already live in it.
And I'm still trying to figure out whatever happened with
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses
yearning to breathe free and pursue happiness"
because now it's like "turn around and start packing" cuz:
We draw these lines all over the planet
and you're considered illegal depending on which side you're standing.
And I yearn for the day that all these lines vanish
because I just don't understand them.

CHORUS 1:

Drew a line in the sand.
Thought it through and then you crossed it.
Defy the dark and where the stars that brought you here.
Crossed a line in the sand.
There's no options at the edge.
Faced your fears and risked it all for a place called home.

VERSE 2:

So take a second and look up at the stars
and think about exactly where it is that you are:
Between Venus and Mars - that Goldie Locks zone.
A little speck of dust floating up in the cosmos.
And that pale blue dot got it's color from water.
The same water that ran through all the veins of our forefathers.
And for that matter - anyone that's ever existed,
but still we build walls and pretend we're so different.
But the thing about the human race is
every single one of us can be traced back to the same place.
We're not that different. We evolved in the same way:
Just another branch of the bipedal great ape.
And we act so fucking arrogant.
Like in another epoch "lines" will still be relevant.
Like we'll still define between citizen and immigrant?
That truth to me is just not self-evident.

BRIDGE:

Did it cross your mind
when you closed the door?
What did you imagine it to be like?
What do you miss? Miss the most
of all we left behind? La nostalgia.

CHORUS 2:

Drew a line in the sand.
Thought it through and then you crossed it.
Defy the dark and where the stars that brought you here.
Crossed a line in the sand.
There's no options at the edge.
Faced your fears and risked it all for a place called home --->
You're losing speed.
What's the crime?
You're growing old
for a brand new start.
